SHARK ISLAND CHALLENGE 2024

On a sunny Sunday in the heart of Cronulla, the world's best bodyboarders gathered to take on the notorious Shark Island. A challenge it was, with 10-12 foot sets washing through and riders relying on knowledge, gut instinct and pure survival mindset to make it through the heats and into the semis and final. Ultimately, that local knowledge paid off with Andrew Lester - on one arm after a particularly spicy wave in the semis - and fellow local Ben Sawyer making the final a two-horse race. With the title safely back into local hands, all that was left to do was get to Kurnell Rec Club for the announcement of the 2024 Shark Island Challenge champion.
